Errors You Should Stay Away From While Filing Form 2290

So what is going on, fellow truckers? The roads are busy, the trucks are filled with load to be delivered and if you have taken your vehicle out for the first t time this month, the tax is left due for the month. You are liable to file form 2290 online or paper file before the due date, i.e. 31st of March 2015. And you have only 3 days in hand to get your tax return filed. With the time constraint and the limitation with the due date, the best option or say, the method to file and report form 2290 is e-filing. However, we would not like you to move too fast, as haste will only bring in careless mistakes. Continue reading

All You Wondered About Schedule 1 Copy!

The IRS E-filing watermark!

The marking is so small, so faint- yet, it makes all the difference. Without the watermark stamp on your schedule 1 copy, that piece of paper doesn’t have any value.

And it is powerful. You see, the stamped Schedule 1 is your proof that you filed and paid your annual heavy vehicle use tax for all of the vehicles listed on the schedule. Without this proof, you cannot renew your tags at the DMV, or renew your registration for IFTA, IRP or UCR, and of course, you have no proof that you paid your taxes either, which will certainly cause trouble if you are ever audited. IRS Shuts Down For MEF Maintenance

Attention Tax filers, we have an update for you.

Taxpayers who file form 2290 via Efile should stay alert, as IRS is shutdown for MEF (Modernized Efile System). MEF is the online system through, which TruckDues.com submits our IRS tax form return. The shutdown is already on and IRS would be reopening sometime in the mid of January.

The shutdown is a routine and takes place every year; however, that does not mean, you cannot file your tax return.

  • If you are using TruckDues.com, you will be able to e-file and submit your tax return to IRS; however, your submitted form 2290 would be kept on hold till IRS opens its gateways for accepting the tax return.
  • And that means, during the course of shutdown, IRS would not be issuing the schedule 1 copy either. You will receive the acknowledgement receipt once IRS starts accepting returns.

However, to Efile form 2290, you need to following documents:

  • EIN (Employee Identification Number)
  • VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
  • Taxable Gross weight of the vehicle(s)
  • Purchase date and date of first use on the highway
  • If the vehicle is sold, details like date of selling, VIN and whom the vehicle was sold are required.

We know you run the show and for some reason, you are not able to file. We would do it on your behalf and you will receive the schedule 1 copy once IRS opens its gateway for accepting the tax return.
