Every Pit stops that you make to deliver runs the nation. It’s a worldwide crisis that’s happening and yet you do not fail to come in aid. Expecting nothing and risking everything you meet our needs in the best possible way. Thank you, dear truckers, for all your efforts amidst this pandemic. It’s not that a hero with unearthly powers shall come to aid but, in reality, is a common man who stands heroic amongst all and that’s you dear truckers. We all stand in pride calling you our heroes.

The whole nation has been in a standstill for months and affecting daily life to a near-impossible circumstance but still, you were there to supply our needs, you’re the blood that flows through the veins of the nation and carries our lifeline across. Stay safe as the nation needs you more at this point. As the current situation has brought the selflessness of truckers to the limelight, we do see people helping out truckers on the move and urge everyone to do so. It’s just a couple of weeks before your Pro-rated HVUT Form 2290 expires!

Hello there dear truckers, the Pro-rated HVUT Form 2290 is now due by 04/30/2020 for vehicles first used since March 2020. This deadline is been drafted by the IRS federal law that indicates that Form 2290 must be filed by the last day of the month following the month of its first use. And COVID-19 playing its role as our fate lies on it the govt is yet to announce any news relating to form 2290. Though we are amidst a global pandemic it is our duty to support our nation through such tax payments and this blog is just a reminder for that.

You may even think if this deadline has anything to do about the regular Annual renewals which are basically due by June & payable until August. But, it does not. This deadline is only concerned about vehicles that are into service since March 2020.

The Heavy highway vehicle is basically paid on trucks with a minimum taxable gross weight of 55000 lbs and it’s paid for vehicles that are used over the public highways for commercial, agricultural & logging purposes. The desired mileage limit for exemption is drafted upon these vehicles based on the nature of its use.

For commercial based units & logging vehicles, the desired mileage limit of exemption is said to be 5000 miles each and for Agricultural based vehicles, it is said to be 7500 miles. Only when to seem to exceed the respective mileage based on your vehicle’s desired purpose of use you need to make the tax payment to the IRS full in advance for the period it needs to be reported.

Bill Garrett, senior vice president of operations for McDonald’s, discussed the new ordering system and pledged to support U.S. truckers as they deliver needed goods during the COVID-19 pandemic. Though most of the diners are closed, many restaurants in order to stay in business have closed the dining sections and keep take out available. But driving a truck through a drive-in is not practical and hence the new implementation of food ordering systems for our truckers. McDonald’s is encouraging truckers to use the following procedures:

Use McDonald’s Mobile Order & Pay app, when you arrive at the restaurant
Select Curbside Service and walk to the designated Trucker curbside sign on the sidewalk outside our designated door
Complete your order by entering the appropriate Trucker curbside number and we’ll bring your order to you at the designated door as soon as it’s ready

“As the world continues to address the quickly changing landscape, we are in this together with you, our valued friends in the trucking and transportation industry. Thank you for everything you are doing to keep essential parts of our economy going,” said Garrett.

A fire department located in 45th Street in Little Rock, AR have opened up their doors to feed the truckers at no cost. The area near the facility has ample amount of space to park and the area around it has quite a bit of 18 wheeler traffic due to the industrial park. To feed the ones who feed us is the motive for this good gesture.

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced a free, temporary overweight permit that allows haulers to transport up to 100,000 pounds on any Missouri highway through April 30 to assist in the critical flow of essential goods during the COVID-19 crisis, including interstates, as long as certain criteria are met:

A copy of the special permit and a bill of lading must be in the possession of the operator of the overweight vehicle during its operation and shall be produced for inspection upon request to any Missouri law enforcement official and/or any MoDOT employee.
The load must carry supplies and/or equipment in the direct effort to prevent, contain, mitigate and treat the effects of the COVID-19 virus. This includes shipments of livestock, poultry, feed and fuels. Any fuels being transported can be hauled at 100,000 lbs. or up to the manufacturer’s specifications of the tank type being operated, whichever results in the lower weight.
Undertaking movement is evidence that both the owner and operator of the equipment agree to abide by the conditions of the special permit and all other non-exempted requirements for overweight loads.
Carriers may haul up to 100,000 lbs. gross weight on semi-trailer configurations with five or more axles. The axles must meet the minimum distance requirement stated in the special permit. Carriers using trucks or semi-trailers with fewer axles are allowed to haul up to an additional 10% heavier than licensed weight.
Carriers and vehicle operators must obey all structure postings and size and weight restrictions.
Violation of any of the conditions of the special permit will void the permit and subject the owner and operator to penalty.

“We are trying to help make the movement of needed goods more efficient,” said MoDOT Director Patrick McKenna.

Commercial Drivers Have some Relief on their Expiring CDLs, Medical Cards and Tax Reporting

Truck drivers with expiring licenses or medical cards have been given an extension because of difficulties renewing during the COVID-19 crisis. The relief is from FMCSA, CVSA and IRS on certain tax extensions.

FMCSA Gives Commercial Drivers Extension on Expiring CDLs, Medical Cards

The FMCSA issued a limited waiver for commercial drivers whose commercial licenses/permits and/or medical cards have expired or are set to expire after March 1st, 2020.
The waiver is effective immediately and valid through June 30th, 2020.
This comes as a response to state DMV and medical clinic closures that have made it difficult for commercial drivers to renew expiring licenses or medical cards.
Commercial drivers must still hold an appropriate license for the vehicle they are operating and must have been deemed physically qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
Drivers and carriers should be aware that states may still enforce the prohibitions on operating a commercial motor vehicle without a valid, non-expired license, so attention should be paid to individual states.

More than 1,000 deaths in the United States have now been linked to the coronavirus, a figure that continues to rise as thousands of new cases are reported each day. As of Thursday afternoon, at least 75,178 people across every state, plus Washington, D.C., and three U.S. territories, have tested positive for the virus and it is still spreading. On the other hand, the number of affected people in China is getting lesser and lesser as days pass by and at one point last week the reported cases were zero. This is a sign of hope that people can recover from the infectious virus. As per the official statement by the government, they have successfully started to implement the vaccines in humans to study in bringing down this virus spread to a halt.
