Millions of people are extremely excited and are traveling enormous distances to witness the full eclipse and the path of totality. The Great American Eclipse will cast a shadow over the whole country, moving diagonally from Oregon in the northwest to South Carolina in the southeast.
The path of totality will pass through fourteen states – Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Find the graphical representation below:
It is advisable to grab a pair of solar viewing glasses as the protective shades make it possible for observers to look directly at the sun before and after totality. Also you may approach the nearest observance point for a safe and a better view of the totality.
Truckdues.com advises truckers to not pull over at unsafe locations, such as stopping on an interstate at the last minute from which to view the eclipse. We also encourage drivers to be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists, who may also be looking skyward. As always, Truckers are encouraged to be watchful, alert and conscientious of others on the road.
During this time we would like to gently remind you about the near term Form 2290 deadline which is due by Aug 31st. The Form 2290 is generally due by June and it is payable until the end of August, so this deadline stays in common for two scenarios namely:
- For the renewal of Form 2290 for the period beginning July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018
- For Vehicles which are purchased during the month of July 2017 and is been over the public highway since then.
Hence, we advise HVUT tax payers not to wait until the end of this month to avoid a last moment rush near the deadline to E-file their Form 2290. Log on to www.truckdues.com and Renew your 2017-2018 Form 2290 before Aug 31, 2017 (08/31/2017) to stay away from the IRS penalties and interests.
