Greetings, HVUT filers! For the period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, the HVUT Form 2290 is due for renewal for trucks initially used in August 2021. Most of the truckers have already completed an e-renewal of their HVUT Form 2290 for the current period. So join the e-filer team before it becomes too late and get your IRS digital watermarked copy of Schedule 1 as soon as possible.
The renewal HVUT Form 2290 is due by June 30th and is payable until August 31st. Heavy vehicles having a minimum gross weight of 55000 lbs that are utilized on public roadways for commercial, agricultural, or logging reasons must file Form 2290. When filing a Form 2290 to report your truck, there are two key considerations to keep in mind. It is calculated using the vehicle’s entire gross weight and the number of miles traveled. The taxes are calculated based on the vehicle’s taxable gross weight, which starts at 55000 pounds and rises to above 75000 pounds.
Every year, the tax payable is paid in full to the Internal Revenue Service if the vehicle will be utilized for more than 5000 miles for commercial vehicles and 7500 miles for agricultural vehicles. A commercially based unit’s yearly tax payable amount is $550, whereas logging trucks’ maximum tax due amount is $412.50. However, because the tax deadline for new vehicles is the last day of the month after the month of initial use, Form 2290 is pro-rated.
