The Form 2290 is NOW due for vehicles first used since August 2018.

Hello there truckers, we hope this article reaches you with high spirits. Over this article we would like to remind you that your HVUT Form 2290 is now due for vehicles first used since August 2018. The Federal law states that the Form 2290 must be filed on a vehicle by the last day of the month following the month of its first use.

On that basis, now the Form 2290 is due for vehicles which are used since August 2018. However, the tax due part is determined by the number of miles the truck will be used over the reporting period, when the truck will be used over 5000 miles for the period August 2018 through June 2019, the tax payment/deposit must be done full in advance for the respective period.

Whereas on the other hand, the truck remains exempt from paying taxes to the IRS when it remains/used under the desired mileage limit for exemption which is 5000 miles or less for commercial based units and 7500 miles or less for vehicles which are primarily been used for agricultural purposes.

Form 2290 is an annual tax paid to the Internal Revenue Service on vehicles which are described to possess a minimum gross weight of 55000 lbs or more and the same truck is been used over the public highway based on its nature of use. This tax form is generally due by June and its payable until the end of August.
