Renew your HVUT Form 2290 for 2019-20 before it’s too late!

Hello there Truckers, as you all know that the HVUT Form 2290 could be filed up until Tuesday, September 3, 2019. However we want you to know that it’s high time to E-File the Form 2290 and millions of tax returns are e-filed at this time hence we recommend you to e-file as soon as you can to receive the IRS digital watermarked copy of schedule 1 in your e-mail with no further delay.

Every year the Form 2290 is due by June and it is payable until the end of August. But for this year, the deadline is extended up until Tuesday, September 3, 2019 as the last day of August happens to be a deadline. However this deadline of August is only applicable for renewals of Annual Tax returns and incase of new vehicles the HVUT Form 2290 must be filed by the last day of the month following the month of its first use.

On that basis, aside from your Annual HVUT Form 2290 renewals if you had purchased any new/used trucks during July 2019 you are required to file the pro-rated HVUT Form 2290 before Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019. So act fast and react. Do not procrastinate until the final moment to avoid last moment rush and try not to face any penalties and interests incurred from the Internal Revenue Service stating Failure to File & Pay your Form 2290.

Only when you possess a heavy highway vehicle with a minimum taxable gross weight of 55000 lbs and if the truck is been designed to be used over the public highways for Commercial, Agricultural & Logging purposes. If the said truck is assumed to be used over the desired mileage limit for exemption (5000 miles for Commercial based vehicles) & (7500 miles for Agricultural based units) then the tax due payment needs to be made to the IRS full in advance.

Over the other hand if the vehicle is assumed to be used under 5000/7500 miles then the truck turns out to be exempt and no taxes are required to be paid to the IRS for the same reason. Such vehicles are called as Suspended/Exempt vehicles and they are basically represented by Category W.

Renew your HVUT Form 2290 before it’s too late! Deadline is September 3, 2019!

Hello there Truckers, the HVUT Form 2290 is now due on heavy vehicles for the period beginning July 1st, 2019 through June 30th, 2020. The Form was due in June and its payable until the end of August. However, since the last day of August 31, 2019 ends in a weekend the deadline has been stretched until September 3rd, 2019.

Now this Tax Form is generally paid on Heavy vehicles with the minimum gross weight of 55000lbs or more and the same is been used over the public highways for Commercial, Agricultural & Logging purposes. The tax due is determined by the number of miles that the truck is been used for a respective tax period.

If the said vehicle is prone to be used over 5000 miles for the Period beginning July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020 then the tax payment needs to be made upfront to the IRS for the respective tax period and such vehicles are known as Taxable Vehicles, over the other hand if the said truck is going to be used under 5000 miles then the vehicle turns out to be exempt and no taxes needs to be paid to the IRS as they will be classified as Suspended/Exempt vehicles.

Now during this high time, millions of tax returns are been filed throughout the nation and we urge you to file your HVUT Form 2290 as soon as you can to avoid any last moment penalties or interests from the IRS. E-File as soon as you can to receive the IRS digital watermarked copy of schedule 1 in your e-mail at the earliest. Reach us back @ (347) 515-2290 for any further assistance.

Wondering how to claim a refund on your HVUT Form 2290? Here’s how!

Hello there Truckers, the HVUT Form 2290 is an annual tax paid to the Internal Revenue Service every year on vehicle which comprises a minimum gross weight of 55000 lbs or more and if the same truck is been used over the public highways for commercial, agricultural & logging purposes.

If the respected vehicle is used over the desired mileage limit for exemption as in 5000 miles for Commercial & Logging based units & 7500 miles for Agricultural based units then the vehicle turns out to be taxable vehicle and the tax due payment needs to be paid to the Internal Revenue Service full in advance.

On the other hand, if the subjected vehicle seems to be used under 5000 miles for Commercial & Logging based units & 7500 miles for Agricultural based units then the vehicles are considered to be Suspended/Exempt vehicle where the tax due is not imposed on such vehicles, however these vehicles needs to be reported on the Form 2290 in order to claim an exemption from the IRS.

Now there are few claims that are supported in accordance to the Form 2290.

  1. Taxes over paid credits.
  2. Suspended vehicle Exceeds Mileage.
  3. Low Mileage Vehicle Credits.

Claims against Tax over payment:  When the taxes are paid for a respective vehicle more than once within the same tax year, then the excess paid amount can be claimed as a refund by filing the Claim Form 8849 Schedule 6 as a result you will receive a refund check back from the IRS in 21 business days in your mailing address.

When the vehicle is Sold/Destroyed/Stolen:  When the taxes are paid full in advance on a respective vehicle and if the subjected vehicle is Sold/Destroyed/Stolen a partial refund can be claimed via the Form 8849 Schedule 6.

Low Mileage vehicle credit:  When the taxes are paid full in advance on a vehicle assuming it would go over 5000 miles or 7500 miles but if the truck remains under the mileage limit for exemption during the year, the IRS lets you claim a full refund by the following tax year.
