IRS HVUT Form 2290 is due by tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug.31 for TY 2021-22, E-file now to stay compliant

Hello there truckers, finally the day has arrived to renew your HVUT Form 2290 for the period beginning July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021. Yes, though you had almost more than 56 days until deadline in filing your HVUT Form 2290. You could have saved your valuable time in getting you the IRS digital watermarked copy of schedule 1. But its never too late as you still have a couple of days left to file your tax return and pay it.

The HVUT Form 2290 is basically an annual tax paid to the Internal Revenue Service on vehicles which possess a minimum taxable gross weight of 55000 lbs and if the same truck is been used over the public highways for Commercial, Agricultural & Logging purposes.

The IRS has begun accepting tax payments using Credit/Debit cards for the HVUT form 2290, E-file now!

Hello, there dear truckers! Hope you’re doing good. It’s once again time for some updates with form 2290 filings, about a year ago the IRS stopped accepting credit/debit card payments to pay the taxes, and now it’s back. Recently the IRS began accepting tax payments using Credit/Debit cards and it’s one of the most misunderstood modes of payment. HVUT payers are prone to misconception based on their assumption that paying the IRS tax payment using a credit/debit card is an automated process but in reality, it’s not.

The IRS basically gives four different option to pay your taxes:

1. EFW (Electronic Funds Withdrawal)

2. EFTPS (Electronic Federal tax payment system)

3. CREDIT/ Debit card payment

4. Mailing a check to the IRS

Out of these four if you choose to pay using credit/debit card option you need to log into the IRS payments portal https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-taxes-by-credit-or-debit-card this portal is dedicated for credit or debit card payments.
